Course Description
This class teaches the basics of AutoCAD Civil 3D modeling for civil engineering projects. Topics include basic concepts of computerized drafting, program interface, templates, points, surfaces, topography, and alignments. (prereq: CAE 1851 ) (quarter system prereq: AE 1001, AE 1001L, CV 1001, or CV 1001L)
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Prepare models using Civil 3D
  • Use surveying field data and import data into virtual models
  • Create topography models, contour maps and roadways
  • Explain how to subdivide property into lots
  • Develop an alignment both horizontally and vertically
  • Develop a grading plan
  • Develop a utility plan
  • Calculate cut and fill volumes
  • Develop plan sheets
