CV 6216 - Structural Stability3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description This course presents structural stability analysis for members and multistory frames. Topics include torsional buckling of beams; plate buckling; modeling structural stability with the finite element method; and post-buckling behavior. (prereq: AE 6210 or CV 6210 ) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Determine column buckling behavior and torsional buckling capacity of beams
- Determine plate buckling capacities
- Model structural stability with the finite element method
