AE 5470 - Advanced Project Management for MEP

Course Description
Students gain a working knowledge of project management necessary to be successful within the mechanical/electrical contracting industry. The course incorporates codes, contract documents, productivity, coordination, project control and administration, scheduling, safety and project close-out to provide a strong foundation of effective project management from a specialty contracting perspective. (prereq: CM 4311 )
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Analyze a construction contract in terms of risk in order to negotiate an equitable agreement for services
  • Apply the fundamentals of proper documentation in order to solve a problem
  • Prepare manpower loading charts
  • Prepare a complete change order to capture all direct costs as well as impact costs
  • Explain the different safety procedures that can be used to ensure a safe worksite
  • Explain the various aspects of project closeout
