AE 5234 - Foundation Design3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description This course presents the design of foundation systems. Topics include design of shallow foundations for axial, flexural, and shear forces; design of anchorage in concrete; design of retaining walls for lateral and gravity forces; design of slabs on grade and pavement; design of piers and piles; and design of pile caps with the strut and tie method.
