EE 425 - Radio Frequency Circuit Design

2 lecture hours 2 lab hours 3 credits
Course Description
This course provides an introduction to fundamental radio-frequency (RF) design techniques. The emphasis is placed on the physical understanding of high-frequency phenomena, their practical applications, and the unique challenges of RF design and testing. Computer-aided engineering software is used to reinforce lecture and laboratory topics. (prereq: EE 3212 or EE 3214 )
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Analyze and design RF inductors and tank circuits
  • Diagnose and address shield current issues
  • Design lumped component matching networks
  • Design transmission line matching networks
  • Analyze and design a class-C amplifier
  • Design microstrip filter circuits
  • Analyze and design a single stage RF amplifier
  • Learn how to use basic RF test equipment
