MB 6950 - Facilitating Change in Complex Systems2 lecture hours 4 lab hours 4 credits Course Description Students will review the theories of change applicable to complex organizations, and begin to understand effective change as a well-orchestrated process. Students will learn a variety of organizational intervention strategies that can begin to disrupt a system’s equilibrium and move the system toward a new desired state. Both evolutionary and revolutionary approaches to organization change will be discussed. Students will learn to address key people, process, policy, and implementation issues surrounding a change effort through the analysis of change plans. (prereq: MB 6000 and MB 6900 ) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand the dynamics of group and team behavior
- Describe and diagnose the antecedents of employee motivation.
- Explain and diagnose the sources of work group and team effectiveness.
- Discuss and evaluate the characteristics of effective change leadership and influence.
- Explain and evaluate how contextual variables influence employee behavior, organizational effectiveness, and successful organizational change.
- Describe the role culture plays in organizational performance.
- Evaluate the implications for the ethical practice of management and leadership.
