BA 3411 - Leading Project Teams

Course Description
Techniques of studying, analyzing, improving, managing and leading the growth, productivity and development of individual and group competencies to enhance project performance are explained and practiced in this course. The course includes the processes required to make the most effective use of the people involved with the project. The importance of involving team members in the linking and overlapping of process groups in various project phases is emphasized. This course helps managers deal with value dilemmas, conflict, resistance to change and project team-building skills. (prereq: sophomore standing)
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Recognize barriers and drivers for organizational change and describe change models.
  • Identify, prioritize, and manage project stakeholders.
  • Describe individual styles and preferences and how they impact project teams; develop personal style flexibility and team processes, norms, and roles appropriate for successful project work.
  • Create compelling, persuasive presentations to secure necessary approvals, resources, and support for project team.
  • Diagnose challenging situations and respond with appropriate motivation, conflict resolution, leadership, and/or team-building strategies.
  • Assess individual and team performance and develop improvement plans.
