MI 16010 - Workflow Analysis and Redesign2 lecture hours 4 lab hours 4 credits Course Description In this course, students will explore techniques for assessing complex clinical and administrative workflows within the health care environment. Systems thinking, human-computer interaction, and models of human decision making will be discussed. Using these concepts and assessment outcomes, students will develop and implement improvements to workflows, data flows, and systems. (prereq: none) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Recommend a strategy for obtaining and managing stakeholder requirements for workflows and systems
- Using methods of workflow analysis, assess clinical and administrative information needs within a given workflow and identify areas of potential improvement
- Using user-centered design principles, develop and implement changes to workflows, data flows, and systems based on assessment outcomes
- Develop a strategy for assessing changes to determine if the intended improvement has occurred
