MA 232 - Calculus for Engineers IV3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description This course is a continuation of MA 231 and an introduction to multiple integration and infinite series. Topics include double and triple integrals with applications to areas, volumes and moments, infinite series with tests for convergence, power series, Taylor and Maclaurin series, and operations with series. (prereq: MA 231 ) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Set up and evaluate double integrals using rectangular and polar coordinates
- Find areas, volumes, and moments using double integrals
- Set up and evaluate triple integrals
- Use triple integrals to find volumes and moments of solids
- Use integrals in cylindrical or spherical coordinates to find volumes and moments
- Test sequences for convergence and divergence
- Test infinite series for convergence and divergence
- Find the interval of convergence for a power series
- Perform algebraic and calculus operations on power series
- Use Taylor and Maclaurin series to approximate functions
