AE 3632 - Illumination Systems Design

Course Description
Buildling lighting systems and site lighting will be explored through application of lighting principles.  Students will become familiar with light sources, visual comfort, lighting control systems and daylighting.  Hand calculations will be followed by use of a lighting software program.  Code compliance in areas of egress and emergency lighting, as well as energy codes, will be integrated into a lighting design problem that will serve as the final project for the course.  Topics include vision and light, light sources and luminaries, lighting calculations, lighting design (task, ambient, accent and decorative), exterior lighting including LEED requirements, lighting controls, daylighting, energy and life safety codes. (prereq: AE 3601  )
