BI 1020 - Human Anatomy and Physiology II3 lecture hours 2 lab hours 4 credits Course Description The objective of this course is to present the basic principles of functional human anatomy and physiology that apply to the skeletal system, joints, muscle tissue, the muscular system, nervous tissue and components of the central and peripheral nervous system. (prereq: BI 1010 ) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Apply the terminology related to anatomical orientation, body regions and body cavities
- Name and locate the major bones of the human body
- Define the names of the important surface features of bones
- Explain the classifications of joints and the standard features of synovial joints
- Name and locate the major muscles of the human body
- Apply the terminology used to name muscles
- Explain the histological features and functions of nervous tissue
- Name, locate and describe the function of the major features of the central and peripheral nervous systems
- Describe the functions of the various nervous system structures
