AE 610 - Applied Finite Elements

Course Description
This course presents the application of the finite element method to building analysis. Topics include element stiffness matrices for beam, plate, shell and continuum elements; solution of equations; material models for steel and concrete; boundary conditions; and applied loading.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
• analyze structures using one dimensional finite elements
• analyze structures using approximations of two dimensional finite elements
