ME 323 - Manufacturing Processes3 lecture hours 2 lab hours 4 credits This course covers the basic manufacturing processes commonly used in the production of metal, plastic, and composite parts. Process description, product/process characteristics are covered along with design and economic and environmental considerations. Topics include casting, powder metallurgy, bulk deformation, sheet metal working, welding, machining, various processes for producing polymer parts. The course introduces several topics in manufacturing systems including design for manufacturing, quality control and sustainable manufacturing. (prereq: ME 322 )
