CV 470 - Foundation Design3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description The principles of soil mechanics are applied to the design of foundations. Covers the analysis and design of shallow foundations, concrete anchorages, retaining walls, piers and piles. (prereq: CV 370 , AE 3021 ) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Design a spread footing subjected to axial load and moment
- Design a base plate subjected to axial load and moment
- Design a retaining wall
- Explain the design of deep foundations for axial loads
