EV 722 - Hydrogeology and Groundwater Pollution3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course topics include the following: (1) presentation of the hydrologic cycle–rainfall, water losses, and groundwater runoff (2) the unit hydrograph concept;(3) governing equations of groundwater flow through porous media; (4) interaction of surface and groundwater flows; (5) hydraulics of wells; (6) groundwater contaminant transport; (7) numerical methods for parameter estimation applications to groundwater models; (8) regulations governing groundwater contamination; (9) ex-situ and in-situ contaminated groundwater treatment/ remedial systems. (prereq: graduate standing in MSEV program or department consent) Offered Winter-E term.
